A large group of locals got together last Friday at Club Waimea for a show of elegance and sympathy. The Preloved Fashion Parade presented all the second-hand stores’ potential to keep people comfortable and well dressed in an affordable way.
It was also a great opportunity to help a good cause.
At the parade, the Nelson Haven Lioness Club and the Hospice Shops were working together towards total profit for Nelson Tasman Hospice.
“We have been working towards the Parade for eight months, as we are a small club we invited Nelson Lionesses to assist. We had the most amazing group of people prepared to be models,” says Margaret Ching, from the Lioness’.
They were supported by Nelson Tasman Hospice Fundraising and Marketing Manager, Hudson Dodd. Joanna Davis of team Mitre 10 was their major sponsor with input from Murray Leaning, and they had Hayden Rose design their poster.
Three businesses were responsible for selling the tickets for the event: Nelson House of Travel, Lemon-tree Lane Stoke and Richmond Mall.
Chris and Yvonne Bowater donated their printing time. “One night Yvonne was in her office printing posters at 9pm, hadn’t had dinner, it just lets you realise what special people they are,” says Margaret.
“It is a very exciting and fun project which we will organise again next year, our clubs heartfelt thank you for the tremendous support we received,” says Margaret.
