Sir John Kirwan, will be in Hope on Friday to provide advice to those affected by the recent Pigeon Valley forest fire and the drought.
The combined stress of both the forest fires and the drought can take a significant toll on the local community. Thanks to Westpac, who are funding the visits, local people can take a break, listen to Sir John and get some “tools for the toolbox”.
Sir John will discuss how to spot signs of stress in yourself, your family, friends and colleagues, who may be feeling under pressure from recent events. He will provide advice on topics like ways to open up lines of communication with others, how to manage stressful feelings and situations, and where to turn to if you need help.
The event will be held from 12.30pm to 1.30pm at the Hope Community Church, on Ranzau Road. Businesses are welcome to bring their teams, and people are encouraged to bring their friends and family members. There will be light nibbles and refreshments provided.
