Kohatu Park Trust received the golden egg this Easter with the commitment of $300,000 from the Tasman District Council.
The trust is developing a motorsport and adventure park accessed via Olivers Rd near Tapawera, and these funds are hoped to pave the way for further funding opportunities to develop the Kohatu Park site.
With limited adventure and motorsport facilities currently in the area, this development would benefit central New Zealand and the local community.
The $300,000 from the TDC will be spent on upgrading the Olivers Rd and Motueka Valley Highway junction, a necessary requirement for the trust’s resource consent.
Chairperson and driving force behind the park, Garry Adcock, says “this is a wonderful result, and thanks must go to the councillors and staff at Tasman District Council for their continuing support over the last ten years. The strong community support for our project across the area has undoubtedly also helped our cause.”
A number of civil contractors from Nelson to Reefton are generously donating time, materials, plant and equipment to complete the junction’s work.
With detailed planning underway, the trust hopes work on the upgrade will begin in a matter of weeks.

Spread the love.
