The Parker Shield running event at Cable Bay Adventure Park in Saturday had everything a cross-country race should have.
There was lots of mud, slippery tracks, hills, stream crossings and rough grassy areas.
More than 60 competitors relished the challenging 2.4km laps.
In the senior grade, Chris Sharland once again took charge of the race right from the start, completing his four laps in a very slick time of 38 min 12 sec with the fastest senior woman, Iona Kelly, finishing in 50 min 17 sec.
Dan Bush was the first of the veteran runners home, steaming around the three laps in 29 mins flat with Christine Lear, the first veteran woman, finishing in an equally commendable time of 37 min 47 sec.
The first male walker was Daryl Nish, who completed his two laps in 36 min 28 sec, while Elaine Llewellin was first female home in 41 min 02 sec.
Of the junior runners, Elliot English managed the difficult terrain well to win the one lap race in 15 min 57 sec and Michael James, running strongly, completed the two laps in 27 min 11 sec.
