Two records were broken at Waimea Intermediate School’s annual athletics day this year.

Shannan Delany jumped 5m in the year-8 girls long-jump to break the record of 4.90 set by Hayley Bond in 2016.

Ben Walker beat the year-8 boys high-jump record by more than 10cm, jumping 1.63m – higher than himself!

Shannan also cleaned up on the track, winning the 60m, 100m, 400m and 800m, a feat echoed by Harrison Inch who crossed the line first in all of those events for the year-7 boys.

Harrison also won the long-jump, high-jump and shotput.

These three athletes went on to join 60 other Waimea Intermediate School students competing in the interschool athletics at Saxton Stadium, where further impressive feats were achieved during the meet.
